César Franck – Choral No 2 in B minor

In September 2019 I gave a lunchtime recital at Chester Cathedral, including music by Sweelinck, Bach, Franck, Brahms and Léfébure-Wely. This is a live recording of the centrepiece of that programme, César Franck’s Choral No 2 in B minor.

Carl Grainger’s excellent account of Franck’s Second Choral had all the space it needed. His excellent use of the Chester organ guaranteed all the warmth and sonority that this superb work requires.
