Festival Internationale d’Orgue En Charente
I was delighted to have the opportunity to give a concert as part of the 28th International Festival of the Organ in Charente. The 15 stop organ in the church of St Maurice, Montbron looks a little limited on paper but it is packed with interesting and beautiful sounds. It has enough power to fill the ancient church with ease.
Bernardo Storace | Ballo della Bataglia |
J S Bach | Partita on O Gott du frommer Gott (BWV 767) |
Louis Vierne | 24 pièces en style libre – Cortège – Pastorale |
Paul Hindemith | Sonata no 2 |
Louis Vierne | 24 pièces en style libre – Divertissement – Berceuse |
Theodore Dubois | Toccata in G |
I played a little bit of gentle ragtime, Peaches and Cream by Percy Wenrich, as an encore.
I also attended the final concert of the festival. I really wanted to hear the sound of the massed hunting horns of the Rallye Saint Hubert – Tussonais and I have to say it was completely exhilarating. Here they are, at a different event, playing La Capitaine.
